If Hollywood were really a tough town, sweet Kellie Martin would have been chewed up and spit out long ago. Instead, she’s followed her role on Life Goes On with a star turn on the new—and already beloved—Christy. Did somebody say beloved? Martin comes to the set with boxes of colored beads that she strings onto wire or cord. “She gives the necklaces she makes to everyone on the set,” reports one producer’s assistant. Then there are the home-baked cookies that she puts in baskets for people. (She makes some low-fat for those on special diets.)
On location for Christy in Tennessee, the director found cookies left regularly at his door. “And once a week or so, she drops off pasta salad or something else she’s cooked up,” he says in amazement.
