Welcome to Christy Cove
The Definitive Christy (TV Series) Resource
The TV series adapted from the novel ‘Christy’, is primarily based on true events of the life of Leonora Wood. She came from Asheville, North Carolina to Del Rio, Tennessee in 1909. The show follows Christy trying to teach impoverished children at a missionary school in the Appalachian mountains. The people of the cove lack basic necessities. They refuse charity and are often stubborn and at times rebellious. However underneath it all they have a deep love for others like no other. Once there, Christy catches the eye of the minister and doctor of the cove in Cutter Gap.
The Mission
To keep the memory of the TV series and novel ‘Christy’ alive. To never forget Leonora Wood, the children and people of the cove, Catherine Marshall and God who made this story possible. To remember executive producer Ken Wales, who, through sacrifice and trials, took 19 years to bring the series to TV. Christy’s legacy lies in East Tennessee, and is pivotal for its scenery and landscape. Most of all, giving, serving and teaching those who need help no matter how difficult and grueling the circumstances. And to acknowledge that every day, we are here to learn.
The Tipton Place at Cades Cove, seen in the Pilot episode.
