During the 2007 DVD release a special version was released that included a small Bible Study booklet. I’m slowly adding its contents.
Christy Bible Study
About the Bible Study Guide
The heartwarming and family-friendly series Christy provides an opportunity to discuss the importance of faith through the personal journey of Christy Huddleston, a story based on author Catherine Marshall’s mother. Understanding the numerous and varied themes of the television series – ranging from God’s purpose for our lives to the consequences of selfishness – is the reason these and other topics are addressed in the movie and why we’ve created this Bible Study Guide. With this booklet, you can utilize the message in Christy as a discussion tool with your family.
We suggest that you show one episode in its entirety, followed by the discussion and Bible reading. Use the Bible Study Guide as your handbook. There are suggested scriptures for you and your family to study in-depth, and we’ve provided several thought provoking questions based on the themes in the episodes. This guide is an easy way to kick-start interesting discussions with your family.
Discussions
Once you and your family have watched an episode from the Christy series, you can reinforce the themes and messages of the story through discussion. You might start the study time by saying something like this: “We’ve watched the episode about Christy and her journey of faith. Now, we’re going to talk about the episode and discover some ideas that we can use in our own lives.” Then, read the questions and scriptures that will start discussion.
The questions should draw your family members into a conversation about what they have just seen. Remember, the amount of time you spend on this process is entirely up to you. Don’t feel like you have to hurry through a good conversation. The goal is to allow each person enough time to understand the principles that have been set forth in the story. To finish the discussion, give the brief “Lesson to Learn” provided at the end of the topic.
