Christy was a miracle right from the very beginning. Not just for the TV show either. From Leonora leaving Asheville to Del Rio, from the 9 years it took Catherine Marshall to write the novel. It took 18 years for Ken Wales to bring it to TV. But is it gone forever?

If you’re a Christy fan I think you would believe it to be the case. Television and movies today are not what they used to be. They lack the morals, values and a family unit. They’re gone. Completely. They ignore their creator God, and indulge in anything they please. The appalling activities of the 1990s now appear wholesome in comparison to today. Family TV is gone in my mind and sadly always will be. One thing that separated the family from the television is obviously the introduction of the internet and smartphones. You can’t deny it. Technology is a good tool, but when used incorrectly the results can be grim.

As of 2023 the Christy TV series is not available for streaming, even on a family streaming platform like UP Faith and Family. The DVD was released in 2007 and we have yet to see another re-print. Streaming TV and movies have great upsides with having your favorites easier to play with a push of the button. Nevertheless hard copies such as DVDs that you have on hand, you own them yourself. According to law however, they’re still not yours considering copyright and they should not be reproduced. But having the media in hand is always better.

Speaking on having physical media the same goes for the novel. If you only have the Christy novel on services such as Kindle I highly recommend getting a physical copy. Here’s why. You may or may not be familiar with Amazon’s controversy over the deletion of George Orwell’s books ‘1984’ and ‘Animal Farm’. According to Amazon an outside company added it to their website and sold the digital copies without the right to do so. Hence, Amazon deleted these books from people’s devices. Amazon eventually offered checks and a $30 credit in return. It’s quite ironic because ‘1984’ essentially discusses that topic of pure control of information and your life. Even streaming services don’t have to put their movies and shows on their website permanently. It’s all about the money.

Rebooting TV shows. Would a reboot be deemed worthy for Christy? I highly doubt so. You have to know that these networks and companies that produce shows have to insert certain propaganda today. Even in the 90s Christy skirted by, because the head executives at CBS were changing hands. They were able to get their foot in the door at the right time. That goes for a lot of TV shows. The degradation of society and aggressive plot lines networks must push won’t allow much room for it to be done correctly. Most importantly wholesome.

Only another miracle would allow this story to be told again on TV. But for now, our best hope would be to have a Blu-Ray HD quality remaster of the TV show. This will result in a high quality video and we’ll see details in the film as we never have before. If the studio sees a profit from it, perhaps one day we’ll get it.

Christy is down but not forgotten. The story still resonates with people today from the novel and show. Is it gone forever? Only if you allow it. You must keep passing down this novel and TV Show from generation to generation. True powerful stories including those in the Bible will never be gone. They hold truths and powerful accomplishments that stand the test of time.
