A Facelift
For the sake of clarity are definition I’ve processed all the screenshots through software. With the use of Artificial Intelligence and Photoshop I’ve tried to in essence create a ‘rescan’ of the film. Since the series was shot on 35mm cinematic film a true high definition scan of the film could be accomplished. However, it is quite unlikely or a long time from now. After all, ‘Christy’ by far is not on the radar for studios. Since creating this website I felt it was the best to give you the best.
I processed the images through Topaz Gigapixel Artificial Intelligence. This software gives a good re-creation and clarity of photos. However they do lack details at times and tend to give the appearance of a painting. To reduce this I ran the screenshots through Photoshop to add specific noise technique, which in effect gave the images a feel of a real 35mm scan.
As many of you may know film was a day and age of a physical process not digital. Film contains silver halides in them. This range is often referred to as ISO. The higher the ISO the cheaper, faster exposure, and better night shooting. However it does have a great downside as it contains bigger halides. These halides are exposed by the light. The smaller the halides, the less grains or dots are seen on an image. The larger the halides in film, more grain is seen in the final picture. With a bright sunny day a low ISO would be great with smaller noise or dots seen on the film. But one must take in account the higher cost. With most of my experience there’s better quality film (lower ISO, more expensive) used for Pilot episodes. It’s obvious you would want your Pilot to be the shining star.
Hopefully with the AI restoration and Photoshop processing you can see a better look of images from the series. For now you can find screenshots of each episode on Christy Cove Pinterest.
